Spain need spirit of 2008 to survive Lopetegui chaos

It s unusual to see Sergio Ramos, the pantomime villain of the Champions League final, act as a firefighter but, hours after Julen Lopetegui was sacked as Spain coach, the centre-back was a voice of calm amid the chaos.

We re the national team, we represent a badge, colours, fans, a country, he tweeted. Yesterday, today and tomorrow: together.

The tone was right, the message of solidarity important. But it felt like a man politely asking a storm not to blow down his house while the flood waters reached his shoulders.

Lopetegui s dismissal was as momentous as it was horrendously ill-timed. Announced as Real Madrid s next coach on Tuesday, he did not even see out the following 24 hours with his national team.

Betting on the final NFL game on Thanksgiving Day is kind of like eating that final piece of pumpkin pie. You probably shouldn’t but who are you kidding, you’re definitely going to.

Falcons vs Lions Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 3: Offenses Trade Blows at Ford Field

The Atlanta Falcons head to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. The Lions edged the defending Super Bowl champs in Week 1 but were upset at home last week and will try to bounce back against a Falcons side that is 2-0.

NFL odds opened with Detroit as a 4.5-point home favorite but that line has slimmed down to -3.5. Here are my best free Falcons vs. Lions NFL picks for September 24.

NFL Week 7 Survivor Best Bets: Bengals Take Care of Reeling Browns

A mild Week 6 of the season, which saw favorites go 12-2 SU, gave NFL Survivor Pool players a brief respite after the volatile first five weeks of action.

Most of the remaining entries in Covers’ 10K Pro Football Survivor Contest kept on keeping on, but we face a much more difficult task in Week 7 odds.

As our choices thin, bye weeks roll out, and the matchups get tighter, poolies have to be very careful about their next move.

For me, I cruised into Week 7 thanks to the Green Bay Packers’ one-sided win over Arizona at home. Now I have to be not only calculated with this week’s selection but also mindful of my potential NFL picks down the road.

Here’s my NFL survivor pool pick for Week 7 and a look at the “safes…
